ASTERIX IN AMERIKA
The animated movie “Asterix in America” is based on the comic “Asterix and the great crossing” from the Asterix series. It was produced from 1991-1994 under the direction of Gerhard Hahn in Germany, and like all the previous Asterix films was made in France.
The little gallic village has been, as we all know, a thorn in the side of Roman commander Caesar because it has successfully offered resistance against the Roman conquerors. Caesar decides to try to fix the problem once and for all. He kidnaps the druid Miraculix who is responsible for giving the Gauls their superiority. To get rid of Miraculix, he is shipped in a galley to the end of the the Atlantic Ocean, and is hurled with a catapult over the edge of the flat earth. But Asterix and Obelix, who follow his trail with their small fishing boat arrive in the remote west in an unknown land...
